Nicolas Prosper Bourée (born March 26, 1811; † 1886) 1849–1852: Consul General in Tangier , 1866–1870 Ambassador to the Sublime Porte . In December 1854 Arthur de Gobineau was appointed legation secretary in Tehran . He traveled to Tehran via Marseille and Bushehr . There he learned the Persian language and tried to decipher the cuneiform script . In 1858 he left the court of Nāser ad-Din Shah .
