Jules Henri François Charles-Roux (born October 4, 1909 in Sorgues , † April 19, 1999 ) was a French diplomat .

Life

Jules Henri François Charles-Roux was the son of Madeleine Yvaren and Charles Wulfran Marie Louis Charles-Roux. He married Fanny Zarifi on June 22, 1936 in Marseille. He joined the foreign service in 1938. From June 30, 1938 to October 1941, he was an attaché in New York City . In October 1941, his resignation was accepted by the Vichy regime . In 1942 he was second class secretary of the embassy in the Commissariat National aux Affaires étrangères in London. From 1943 to 1948 he was second class counselor in Washington DC. From 1948 to 1952 he was employed on the Quai d'Orsay. From 1952 to 1955 he was Consul General in Boston.

Morocco gained independence from France on March 2, 1956 and from Spain on April 7, 1956. From 1956 to 1961 Jules Henri François Charles-Roux was consul in Rabat . From 1961 to 1964 he was employed on the Quai d'Orsay . From May 21, 1964 to March 7, 1969, he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Damascus . From March 7, 1969 to July 4, 1972, he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Tehran . In 1972 he was retired .
