Niels Wulfsberg
Niels Wulfsberg (born August 29, 1775 in Tønsberg , Vestfold ; † June 25, 1852 in Drammen , Buskerud ) was a Norwegian pastor, publisher and newspaper editor.
Life
His parents were Jacob Wulfsberg (1751–1826) and his wife Inger Helvig Seeberg (1752–97). He grew up with his uncle in Åmot and passed the examen artium in 1796. He then studied theology in Copenhagen . In November 1801 he was appointed as the third priest of Oslo Cathedral . In 1802 he opened a publishing bookstore in Oslo. In autumn 1807 he published 43 issues of the periodical "Efterretninger og Opmuntringer angaaende de nærværende Krigsbegivenheder" - a forerunner of the newspaper Tiden . This first appeared on January 28, 1808, its tendency was monarchist and secessionist .
In order to Eidsvoll promote the dispute over the constitutional negotiations, he published the "Journal for Rigsforfatning, Lovgivning og Politie". Wulfsberg had a bad reputation as an editor: he was thought to be corrupt and submissive. In 1815, Wulfsberg and Christian Døderlein founded a new Swedish-friendly newspaper, "Den norske Rigstidende". On his return from Stockholm he published the Morgenbladet newspaper - it was Norway's first daily newspaper. In 1823 Wulfsberg fell ill and wanted to recover in Drammen . There he published the newspaper Tiden again. It is still published under the name Drammen Tidende . Wulfsberg died in the city on June 25, 1852.
