Åmot is a Norwegian municipality northeast of Oslo in the Fylke Innlandet .

geography

The municipality is 1,340 km² and has 4356 inhabitants (February 27, 2020). Åmot is bordered by the municipality of Rendalen in the north, Trysil in the east, Elverum in the south, Løten , Hamar , Ringsaker in the south-west and Stor-Elvdal in the west .

The name of the municipality is derived from the Norwegian å møte ("to meet"), as this is where the rivers Glomma and Renaelva meet.

The center of the municipality is the place Rena .
