Østre Toten is a municipality in the south of Fylke Innlandet and belongs to the Gjøvik region . Østre Toten is administered by the town of Lena. Larger settlements are Bilitt, Kapp, Lena, Skreia and Solvang, a total of 14,973 inhabitants lived in the municipality on February 27, 2020.

The highest point is the Torseterkampen with a height of 841 meters.

The municipality is located on the west side of Lake Mjøsa and has a north-south extension of 32.9 km (with water 33.8 km) and an east-west extension of 24.8 km (with water 26.1 km ). It is 563 km², of which 113 km² are used for agriculture and 267 km² for forestry. This makes it the sixth largest agricultural municipality in Norway. There are there corn , cabbage , turnips , carrots , leek plants ( leek , onion ), strawberries and raspberries grown.

The industry is essentially geared towards food. This is how potato chips , potato flour and other finished products are made. But the wood industry with a sawmill is also represented. The largest box production in the whole country is here. And the metal industry, especially aluminum, can also be found.

The highest forest area in the municipality is Totenåsen in the south with large areas of unspoiled nature.
