List of French envoys in Venice

The French ambassadors in the Republic of Venice resided in the Casa abitata dell'ambasciatore di Francia on the Rio della Madonna dell'Orto in Venice .

In 1797 the Doge Ludovico Manin handed the city over to Napoleon Bonaparte , who passed it on to Austria-Hungary . This ended the Republic of Venice .
