Hector Varela

Héctor Varela (born January 29, 1914 in Buenos Aires , † January 30, 1987 ibid) was an Argentine musician , his real name was Salustiano Paco Varela. As a band leader , arranger , composer and bandoneon player , he shaped Argentine tango .

Varela's career began at the age of 16, initially playing bandoneon in various orchestras. In the 1940s he was part of the orchestra of the important band leader Juan D'Arienzo , and from the 1950s he enjoyed great success with his own orchestra. In doing so, he developed an unmistakable style that differed in rhythm and sound from the work with and for D'Arienzo. The voices of the singers Rodolfo Lesica and Argentino Ledesma are formative .
