The Sony Swedish Open 2012 was a women's tennis tournament in Båstad . The clay court tournament in the International category was part of the WTA Tour 2012 and took place from July 16-22 at the same time as the Mercury Insurance Open 2012 in Carlsbad .

In the individual, Polona Hercog was able to defend her title from the previous year. Lourdes Domínguez Lino and María José Martínez Sánchez competed in doubles to defend their title; the pairing had to give up prematurely due to an injury to Domínguez Lino. Catalina Castaño and Mariana Duque Mariño won the title .
