The KDB Korea Open 2012 was a women's tennis tournament that took place in Seoul from September 17th to 23rd . The hard court tournament in the International category was part of the WTA Tour 2012 and was endowed with 500,000 US dollars in prize money for the first time. At the same time, the GRC Bank Guangzhou International Women's Open 2012 took place in Guangzhou , also a tournament in the International category.

The defending champions were in singles the Spanish María José Martínez Sánchez , who was eliminated in the quarterfinals, and in doubles the pairing Natalie Grandin / Vladimíra Uhlířová , who was eliminated in the semifinals against the eventual winners. The top seeded Caroline Wozniacki defeated Kaia Kanepi, seeded third, 6-1 and 6-0 in the individual final . The top seeded pairing Raquel Kops-Jones / Abigail Spears won the doubles final against Oqgul Omonmurodova and Vania King with 2: 6, 6: 2 and [10: 8].
