Choi Ji-hee (born February 10, 1995 in Seoul ) is a South Korean tennis player .

Career

Choi did not start playing tennis until she was twelve and her preferred surface is the hard court. So far she has won three singles and 20 doubles titles at ITF Women's Circuit tournaments , as well as one double title on the WTA Tour .

She played her first professional tournament in April 2009 at an ITF tournament in Gimcheon .

At the Hansol Korea Open 2011 in Seoul , her first WTA tournament, she received a wildcard from the organizer for qualification . But she lost there in the first round to Jaroslawa Schwedowa with 0: 6 and 0: 6.

In 2012, together with her partner Akari Inoue , she won her first double title on the ITF tour in Jakarta .

In June 2014 she reached the finals of a US $ 10,000 tournament in Gimcheon twice in a row before she won her first individual title in Yeongwol at the end of August 2014 . In June 2015, she reached the singles final of the $ 25,000 ITF tournament in Incheon . In October 2017, she achieved her second tournament victory in singles at the $ 15,000 tournament in Nonthaburi .

In September 2018 she achieved her first double victory at the KEB Hana Bank Korea Open at a WTA tournament together with her partner Han Na-lae . At the end of September 2018 she was ranked 144th in the double world rankings, the highest ranking of her career to date.

She has been playing for the South Korean Fed Cup team since 2015 ; their Fed Cup record now shows two wins in one defeat.
