Makoto Ninomiya ( Japanese 二 宮 真 琴 , Ninomiya Makoto ; born May 28, 1994 in Hiroshima , Hiroshima Prefecture ) is a Japanese tennis player .
Career
Ninomiya started playing tennis at the age of six. She mainly plays in tournaments of the ITF Women's Circuit , in which she has already won a single and 20 double titles.
On the WTA Tour in 2014 she received a wildcard for the main draw of the doubles competition at the Japan Women's Open ; she failed with her doubles partner in round one.
In 2015 she reached the quarterfinals with Eri Hozumi at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel and with Shūko Aoyama at the Japan Women's Open Tennis . At the subsequent Korea Open , she and Aoyama even made it to the semi-finals, in which they lost to the eventual winners 4-6 and 1-6.
In September 2016, she finally managed to win the first title on the WTA Tour alongside Aoyama. With the victory in Tokyo , she improved to 61st place in the double ranking by November; She achieved her best in February 2018 with place 35.
Also in February 2018, she played in New Delhi against Thailand for the first time for the Japanese Fed Cup team . In her Fed Cup balance she now has five wins and one defeat.
On June 10, 2018, she reached the double-finals of the French Open , which she and her partner Eri Hozumi lost to Barbora Krejčíková / Kateřina Siniaková with 3: 6 and 3: 6.
