Andrea Hlaváčková Sestini (* 10. August 1986 as Andrea Hlaváčková in Pilsen , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech tennis player .

Career

On May 13, 2007, she won her first WTA title at the double competition in Prague alongside her compatriot Petra Cetkovská . From 2008 she played mostly with Lucie Hradecká , with whom she won twelve WTA double titles.

On June 3, 2011, she secured her first title at a Grand Slam tournament with Hradecká, with whom she also reached the final in Memphis . They defeated Sania Mirza and Jelena Wesnina 6: 4 and 6: 3 in the final of the French Open . This climbed Hlaváčková, who was also with Klára Zakopalová in the final in Palermo , among the top 20 in the double world rankings ; in May 2012 she was already number 7. At Wimbledon, she also reached the final with Hradecká, in which the Williams sisters were able to prevail in two sets. In singles, she lost in Melbourne in 2011 in round two against Asaranka . At the grass tournament in Birmingham she made it into the round of 16, at Wimbledon she ended in round two. At the US Open , she missed the jump into the main field.

In 2012, after moving into the round of 16 in Cincinnati (4-6, 6-7 defeat to Angelique Kerber ), she confirmed her good form at the US Open , where, after a three-set win over Maria Kirilenko , she also played in the singles round of a Grand Slam for the first time Tournament stand. There she got from Serena Williams with 0: 6, 0: 6, however, the maximum penalty; nevertheless, after the tournament she was able to show her best individual placement with position 58. In doubles she was with Hradecká for the first time in the final in New York , which they lost to Roberta Vinci and Sara Errani 4-6 and 2-6. With their ninth joint title win, Hlaváčková climbed to 3rd place on October 22, 2012 - their best position in the doubles ranking.

In 2013 she and Hradecká reached the semi-finals of the French Open , from which Jekaterina Makarowa and Jelena Wesnina emerged victorious in two sets. The Czechs won the WTA tournament in Budapest in July with a smooth final victory over Nina Bratchikova and Anna Tatishvili - it was their tenth joint title. At the clay court tournament in Bad Gastein , Hlaváčková even reached the individual finals, in which she lost to Yvonne Meusburger 5: 7, 2: 6. At the US Open , Hlaváčková won two titles. In the mixed final, together with Max Mirny , she defeated Abigail Spears and Santiago González in 86 minutes , and she and Hradecká won the double final against Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua . At the end of the season, she separated from her doubles partner Hradecká after five years.

With her new doubles partner Lucie Safarova , the new 2014 season started in Auckland , where they in the quarterfinals of the double Sharon Fichman and Maria Sanchez with 6: 7 6 documents 6 and 4. FIG. The duo only reached one final at the ITF tournament in Prague , which they lost against Lucie Hradecká and Michaëlla Krajicek with 3: 6 and 2: 6. After the French Open , where they were eliminated in the first round, she played the rest of the season with different partners. At the tournament in Quebec , she and Julia Görges only lost in the final. At the end of the season she won the tournament in Beijing with Peng Shuai . Then she played again with Hradecká and they won their first tournament in Poitiers .

In 2015 she played the entire season with Hradecká with a few exceptions. They did not win a title, but reached a final three times. The reward was the qualification for the WTA Championships , where they were eliminated in the semi-finals.

At the Australian Open , she and Hradecká reached the final of this Grand Slam tournament for the first time in 2016, where they had to admit defeat to the top-placed women's doubles Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza 6: 7, 1 and 3: 6. In 2017 , Hlaváčková reached the final there again alongside Peng Shuai ; this time Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Šafářová prevailed 6: 7, 4 , 6: 3 and 6: 3.

She has been playing for the Czech Fed Cup team since 2012 , with which she won the team competition in 2012 and 2014 . Her record in the Fed Cup : 4: 1 wins in doubles and one defeat in the only singles so far.

Sestini Hlaváčková played her last international tournament so far in October 2018. She is therefore no longer in the world rankings.

Personal

Hlaváčková's father Jan is a master brewer, her mother Jana a doctor. Andreas older sister Jana Hlaváčková (* 1981) was also a professional tennis player; she reached place 202 in singles and 193 in doubles in the world rankings. In 2004 the two sisters regularly competed in doubles at ITF tournaments.

On July 22, 2017, she married Fabrizio Sestini. Since the 2018 season it has been running under the name Andrea Sestini Hlaváčková . She had a child in the summer of 2019.
