The 2012 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships were a premier category women's tennis tournament with a total prize pool of $ 2,000,000. It was played on hard court. In the singles 28 players started, the four top seeded players received a bye in the first round. 16 couples started in doubles. In singles, number three on the seeding list, Caroline Wozniacki , was the defending champion, but she was eliminated in the semifinals. Petra Kvitová had to cancel her participation as in Doha (pain in the Achilles tendon ) due to fever, which is why the German Sabine Lisicki , who was ninth , received a bye and only started the tournament in the second round. The top seeded Wiktoryja Asaranka also withdrew before the start of the tournament. Casey Dellacqua and Polona Hercog moved up as lucky losers from the qualifying group. The single won the number five of the tournament Agnieszka Radwańska against Julia Görges .

The defending champions in doubles, Liezel Huber and María José Martínez Sánchez , did not compete together in 2012. Instead, Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond , who had already won the title at the previous tournament, the Qatar Total Open , won the tournament against Sania Mirza and Jelena Wesnina . Martínez Sánchez competed with Shahar Peer and was eliminated in the quarter-finals.
