Oqgul Omonmurodova , also Akgul Amanmuradova (born June 23, 1984 in Tashkent ) is an Uzbek tennis player .

Career

Omonmurodova, who prefers to play on the hard court, began playing tennis at the age of ten.

Since 2001, she has played a total of 22 games for the Uzbek Fed Cup team , of which she was able to win 45. In 2008 she achieved her best ranking in the WTA world rankings with 50th place in the individual . In January 2010 it even reached 36th place in the double ranking.

She began her professional career in 2000 at the WTA tournament in Tashkent (Category: International). In 2005 she reached there for the first time a final on the tour, which she lost to Michaëlla Krajicek 0: 6, 6: 4, 3: 6. In 2009 she again reached the finals in her home country, this time losing to Shahar Peer (3: 6, 4: 6).

She celebrated her first WTA title in 2009 at the grass tournament in Eastbourne . With her doubles partner Ai Sugiyama she won the final against the pairing Rennae Stubbs / Samantha Stosur in two straight sets.

She celebrated her first major success in the individual in 2010 in Cincinnati (category: Premier 5), where she reached the second round as a qualifier and knocked out the top seed Jelena Janković before losing to Ana Ivanović in the quarterfinals with 1: 6 and 3: 6. In the same year she was in the quarterfinals of the WTA tournaments in Tashkent and Moscow . In Moscow, she even reached the semi-finals in doubles with Bulgarian Darya Kustova .

At the side of Su-wei Hsieh she narrowly missed the finals at the clay court tournament in Barcelona against Vladimíra Uhlířová / Natalie Grandin in 2011 , before she made her second WTA in the final in Strasbourg together with Chuang Chia-jung , another player from Taiwan, against this pairing -Title secured. At the US Open she reached the third round in singles and in Tashkent on the side of Alexandra Panowa another semi-final in doubles.

She then played a few ITF tournaments before successfully reporting back to the tour with a semi-finals at the 2012 WTA tournament in Pattaya alongside Kimiko Date-Krumm . The rest of the season was rather modest except for a quarter-final in Båstad (with Kateryna Bondarenko ) and the renewed semi-final in Tashkent (with Witalija Dyachenko ).

In 2013 she was in the final at the WTA tournament in Pattaya, in which she and Panowa, however, had to admit defeat to Date-Krumm and Casey Dellacqua . After the French Open, Omonmurodova took a break until the end of the year.
