The 2016 Shenzhen Open was a women's tennis tournament in Shenzhen . The hard court tournament in the International category was part of the WTA Tour 2016 and took place from January 4th to 10th, 2016, parallel to the WTA tournaments in Auckland and Brisbane .

The defending champions were Simona Halep in singles and siblings Ljudmyla and Nadija Kitschenok in doubles.
