history

Since older documents have been lost, the year the village was built and the name of its founder cannot be given. In 1460, Georg von Podiebrad granted the town full jurisdiction and the right to hold a weekly market and brew beer, which suggests that the Hirschberg reign may have been owned by the royal chamber at the time. It has been proven that the parish church as such already existed in 1585. The two side chapels of the church were added in 1748 and 1765.

At the beginning of the 17th century, the Hirschberg lordship and the town were owned by Ladislaw Seidlitz. After the battle of the White Mountain, all of its goods were confiscated by the royal treasury and sold to Count Jaroslaw Boržita on May 13, 1623. Then the Hirschberg rule came to the Heißenstein family, then to the Counts Waldstein . In the last quarter of the 18th century the rule was owned by Vincenz Count von Waldstein and Wartenberg. Around 1834 it was owned by Christian Count Waldstein von Wartenberg, who had inherited it from his father, Ernest Count Waldstein von Wartenberg († 1832).

After the abolition of patrimonial rule in the 19th century, the town was assigned to the judicial district of Dauba.

The main sources of income for the residents were traditionally agriculture, with a focus on hop growing, as well as common regional trades. In the first half of the 19th century, the entrepreneur Franz Wünsche ran a calico and teat factory on a hill outside the town . At the end of the 19th century the place had several sawmills.

After the First World War , the village became part of the newly created Czechoslovakia . Due to the Munich Agreement , Hirschberg belonged from 1938 to 1945 to the district of Dauba , district of Aussig , in the Reichsgau Sudetenland of the German Empire . City rights were not granted, and Hirschberg only had market status.

After the Second World War , the German-speaking population was largely expropriated and expelled . The town received city rights again.
