history

Dogz was first mentioned in a document in 1385. At least since the 14th century, sandstone was quarried in the vicinity of the village and the ten sandstone quarries of Doksy during the reign of Charles IV delivered their stone mainly to Prague for the construction of the Prague Castle , the Veit cathedral , the city's fortifications, churches and town houses. In addition, millstones and boundary stones were made in Doksy. About 300 stone crushers work in the quarries of Doksy.

Since 1545 Doksy has been divided into Smečno and Tachlovice parts. The latter was the larger, it had been acquired in 1547 by the family Sahrer von Sahr (Schdiar von Schdiar). The owner of this part became Karl Joachim von Breda in 1705 , who had acquired it from the captain of the Prachin district Florián Švihovský von Riesenberg and added it to the Tachlovice estate. In 1732 Anna Maria Franziska of Tuscany bought the Tachlovice share for her rule Buštěhrad .

Since 1545 Georg von Zedlitz and Schönfeld owned the smaller part, who had bought it from Delphin von Haugwitz. After the Battle of the White Mountain , Jaroslav Borsita von Martinic received the confiscated property from Ladislaus Zedlitz von Schönfeld and added it to the Smečno rule.

After the construction of the Prague – Lana horse-drawn railway, the stones were transported from Doksy by train to Prague from 1830, where they were used as building materials or for works of art. After the abolition of patrimonial both parts were united in 1848 to form one municipality. At that time Doksy consisted of 51 houses and had 315 inhabitants.

The quarries began to decline in the second half of the 19th century. At the same time Kladno developed into an industrial city, so that the residents found a livelihood there and the place grew. In 1900 Doksy consisted of 126 houses in which 1,072 people lived. In 1914, 15 old stone crushers were still working in the extinct quarries; in 1924, work was stopped entirely. In 1940 Doksy had 1,470 inhabitants.
