The Val di Ledro , also Valle di Ledro , German also Ledro Valley , is a valley in the southwest of Trentino . It could have got its name from the inhabitants of the valley, who were called Leutrenses by the Romans .

The Val di Ledro is a valley in the mountains of Lake Garda that, although of glacial origin, faces east-west.

The municipality of Ledro and Lake Ledro are located in the Val di Ledro . It is drained by the Ponale , which flows south of Riva del Garda over a waterfall into Lake Garda . After Molina di Ledro the valley narrows and is called valle del Ponale .

The valley became 15 BC Incorporated into the Roman Empire . In the Val di Ledro, the battle of Bezzecca took place on July 21, 1866 near the locality of Bezzecca . From there was Giuseppe Garibaldi said General Alfonso La Marmora sent a telegram: ". Ho ricevuto il dispaccio n 1073. Obbedisco" (I have received the telegram No. 1073, I obey.).

The six municipalities in the valley decided in the 1990s to merge and carried out a referendum on this plan on November 30, 2008 . The population approved the plan with a clear majority (73.39%).

On January 1st 2010, all the municipalities in the valley joined forces to form the municipality of Ledro. In May 2010, along with the town council and mayor, the mayor of the six factions in the valley were elected.

The Val di Ledro is from the Strada Statale 240 di Loppio e di Val di Ledro of Rovereto about Arco and Riva del Garda by two 3600 meters and 1120 meters long tunnel through the Rochetta solid and the valley of the Ampola according Storo (at Chiese ) crosses.
