The Garda Mountains consist mainly of limestone and still belong to the Limestone Alps. The burning of lime used to be an important industry. A few remains of lime kilns still remind us of this.

The climate of the Lake Garda mountains is very mild due to the southern location and the influence of the Mediterranean. In Sarca Valley and on the shores of Lake Garda rare snow falls, and in spring and autumn temperatures between 15 and 20 ° C are often measured. The Lake Garda mountains have no glaciations and only offer a few ski areas. The alpine center of the Lake Garda mountains is the town of Arco . There are countless sport climbing areas in the vicinity of Arco.

The lake and its surrounding mountains are a popular destination for water sports, mountain bikers , hikers , climbers and climbers .

In the area of the Lake Garda mountains there are two nature parks, the Parco Alto Garda Bresciano to the west and the Parco naturale locale del Monte Baldo to the east of Lake Garda.
