Tione di Trento is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 3660 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Trento , region of Trentino-Alto Adige . It is located in the Inner Judiciary and is the administrative seat of the valley community Comunità delle Giudicarie .

Tione di Trento

Tione is located about 30 south-south-west of Trento on the middle Sarca on the orographic left side of the river, in a valley basin at the point where the Sarca changes its direction from south to east when coming from the Rendenatal. On the eastern outskirts of Tione di Trento, the Torrente Arnò, which rises from the south in the Val Breguzzo, flows into the Sarca. The Tione basin is bordered by three different mountain groups, in the west by the Adamello group , in the north-east by the Brenta group and in the south-east by the northwestern foothills of the Lake Garda mountains .

Tione di Trento is surrounded by the following municipalities: Porte di Rendena , Tre Ville , Bleggio Superiore , Comano Terme , Borgo Lares , Sella Giudicarie , Ledro and Pieve di Bono-Prezzo .

history

In the Middle Ages, Tione was one of the seven parishes of Judicaria (It .: Sette Pievi delle Giudicarie). Despite belonging to the Principality of Trento, they enjoyed a certain degree of independence, which also remained in the period of the Habsburg Monarchy . This autonomy only ended with the incorporation into the Kingdom of Italy in 1919. Until 1928 the community was only called Tione.
