Levico Terme (German outdated Löweneck ) is a health resort in Valsugana (Suganertal) , the Brenta valley in Trentino in northern Italy with 8133 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).
Location and dates
Levico Terme is located 20 km east of Trento on Lake Levico and in the immediate vicinity of Lake Caldonazzo . Bordering municipalities are Frassilongo , Vignola-Falesina , Borgo Valsugana , Pergine Valsugana , Novaledo , Tenna , Asiago , Caldonazzo , Lusern and Rotzo .
Levico Terme is mainly geared towards senior citizens and families with small children. Thermal treatments, biking and excursions in the area are possible. Around 50 restaurants and 30 accommodation facilities are available to guests.
history
Levico Terme was made a town in 1894 by Emperor Franz Joseph and until 1919 belonged to the ducal county of Tyrol and thus to Austria-Hungary . In 1914 it was garrison of the Silesian Feldjäger Battalion No. 16 of the Austro-Hungarian Army .
After the division of Tyrol in 1919, the place came to Italy and is now in the Autonomous Province of Trento in the Trentino-South Tyrol region .
