Bondone is an Italian commune ( comune ) in Trentino in the Trentino-Alto Adige region and has 657 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).
geography
The place is located high above Lake Idro at 720 m slm, somewhat isolated in the mountains. The winding Strada provinciale SP69 leads up from the lake, which also ends here. The district of Baitoni is located at the foot of the mountain range on the northeast tip of Lake Idro. The main tributary of the lake, the Chiese , which forms the border with the province of Brescia in the estuary , flows here.
Attractions
- Castello San Giovanni, between Baitone and Bondone on a rocky peak, first mentioned in the 11th century. Once owned by the Prince-Bishops of Trento and their vassals, the Counts of Lodron . Restored in the 1950's.
- Historic town center, Bondone has been a member of the I borghi più belli d'Italia association (The Most Beautiful Places in Italy) since 2018 .
