The French Farman XV was built in 1912 as a reconnaissance aircraft and was a modernized further development of the Farman family. However, it was not widely used, as the French military preferred the smaller and lighter Farman XVI, XX and XXII. Only in Russia did the pattern gain a certain importance, where after importing some machines, the Dux company built 18 pieces under license. Here the machines were also armed.
