Ledro is an Italian municipality with 5274 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Ledro valley in the Italian province of Trento . It is part of the Alto Garda e Ledro valley community .

geography

In addition to the Valle di Ledro, the municipality also includes its side valleys such as the Val di Concei and Lake Ledro and borders the province of Brescia in the Lombardy region to the south .

The main town Pieve di Ledro is located about 22.5 kilometers south-southwest of Trento and about 8 kilometers west of Lake Garda . The two places Biacesa in the east and Tiarno di Sopra in the west, located at the edge of the municipality, are almost 11 kilometers apart.

The neighboring municipalities are Bondone , Borgo Chiese , Borgo Lares , Bleggio Superiore , Fiavè , Pieve di Bono-Prezzo , Storo , Riva del Garda , Tenno , Tione di Trento and the municipalities of Limone sul Garda , Magasa and Tremosine sul Garda belonging to the province of Brescia .

The municipality Ledro created on 1 January 2010 by the merger of the previously independent municipalities Ledro, Bezzecca , Concei , Molina , Tiarno di Sopra and Tiarno di Sotto , previously already in the community association Unione dei Comuni della Valle di Ledro worked had.

The main attractions of the municipality include Lake Ledro and the “Museo delle palafitte ”, in which the archaeological finds from Lake Ledro are shown. The pile dwellings on Lake Ledro are among the prehistoric pile dwellings around the Alps included in the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2011 .
