Nový Knín (German Neuknin ) is an old Bohemian royal town with 1,779 (January 1, 2005) inhabitants in the Středočeský kraj region ( Czech Republic ). It is located in the Dobříšská pahorkatina in the valley of the Kocába , into which the Voznický potok flows on the northern outskirts of the city .
history
It was mentioned as early as 1186 as the court in which Duke Friedrich stayed and signed the so-called Kniner Treaty , in which the affiliation of Moravia to Bohemia was ratified. Margrave Otto von Znaim signed for Moravia at that time . During the Hussite Wars the town was burned down in 1424 by the armies of Jan Žižka . The Bohemian King George of Podebrady renewed the rights of a royal town in 1461 . During the Thirty Years War, the city fell victim to the flames again after the Swedes passed through in 1639. In 1776, a beekeeping school was set up in the village by decree of Empress Maria Theresa . The city also became famous for gold discoveries in the area.

- Ledro , Italy: On June 28, 2008, the towns and municipalities of Příbram , Všeň , Milín , Buštěhrad , Nový Knín, Ptice , Chyňava and Doksy signed a partnership agreement with the Italian municipal association Val di Ledro , the participating municipalities Pieve di Ledro , Bezzecca , Concei , Molina di Ledro , Tiarno di Sopra and Tiarno di Sotto merged in 2010 to form the municipality of Ledro.
