history

In the valley of the Litavka was already in the 2nd century BC. Chr. Gold washed. After a few centuries, gold panning was given up due to the exhaustion of gold deposits. At the transition from the 12th to the 13th century, the forest area on the Brdyhang was settled; In the course of the clearing, silver ore was exposed by the settlers. After a rich silver deposit had been discovered on Birkenberg at the beginning of the 16th century, the area began to boom for a second time. In the 1520s, the Hory settlement with 20 miners' houses was built near the Birkenberger Schächten . The hydropower of the Litavka was used to build ore mills below the birch hill. On the flat slope to the left of the stream, on the territory of the Příbram estate, more miners settled in 1524, who named the new settlement Podlesí after its location below the Brdy Forest.

Podlesí was first mentioned in writing on Trinity 1527 in the oldest Příbram mountain book. It mentions the establishment of a water art, so that the water from Podlesí can be used without hindrance both to drive the arts in Hory and the stamp mill in Podlesí. Later a hut was built in Polesí. In the 17th century, a settlement of smelters called Horní Podlesí (now Nové Podlesí ) was established near the Příbram silver works . The older settlement was henceforth called Dolní Podlesí (today Staré Podlesí ). Podlesí was established as a village in the middle of the 17th century.

The recession of the Birkenberg silver mining that began in the 17th and 18th centuries meant that the inhabitants of Podlesí probably lived mainly from agriculture at this time. In 1702 the Příbram chief miner Jakob Büttner suggested the restoration of the old hut in Podlesí. Until 1714 Podlesí belonged to the Podbrder district, after which the place became part of the Berauner district . After the Birkenberg silver mining had flourished again at the end of the 18th century on the initiative of the miner and smelter Johann Anton Alis through the development of new underground works, this also led to an upswing of the place. Most of the inhabitants of Podlesí were miners and smelters, agriculture was no longer important. During this time, the nativity scene carved by the miners throughout the Příbram district spread in Podlesí, with the Podlesí nativity scenes being distinguished by their naive carving.

In 1846 Podles or Podlesy consisted of a total of 95 houses with 862 inhabitants. The village was divided into Upper Podles ( Nové Podlesí ) and Lower Podles ( Staré Podlesí ). In the village there was an official forester's house, an inn, a kk stamping and laundry and an kk mountain forge . Podles was the seat of one of the four Přibram forest districts, which managed a forest area of 562 yoke 44 square fathoms. Parish was Přibram . Until the middle of the 19th century, Podles remained subservient to the royal silver mining town of Přibram as part of the Příbram villages.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Podlesí / Podles in 1850 with the districts Nové Podlesí and Orlov a municipality in the judicial district Příbram. From 1868 the municipality belonged to the Příbram District . In the 1870s Orlov broke away from Podlesí and formed its own community. In 1890 Podlesí (with Nové Podlesí) consisted of 92 houses and had 1232 inhabitants. In Podlesí there were ore mills, and the residents also made gloves at home. In the same year, on the initiative of the town of Příbram, a referendum was held on a merger with Podlesí, which was allegedly supported by the residents. After that, the entire eastern part of the village, comprising 34 houses, was connected to Příbram along the street as the fifth district. Several residents appealed against the division and stated that they had not been informed about it. The municipal council also protested against the illegal separation without the approval of the supervisory authorities. In 1901 the Ministry of the Interior ordered new negotiations on the cadastral border between Podlesí and Příbram, which the city only complied with after public protests. A decision of the Příbram Council from 1902 on a division of the houses in the V district triggered renewed protests and complaints in Podlesí because of the assignment of Drmlovo Pole to the town of Březové Hory. On April 20, 1910, the municipal council of Podlesí agreed to a settlement in the border dispute with Příbram, which provided for the transfer of all the houses of Příbram on the left bank of the Litavka to the municipality of Podlesí, while the town of Příbram of Podlesí the neighboring forests and two enclaves Orlov and Oseč received. In 1912 the border dispute was declared over. On October 22, 1922, a memorial to those who fell in World War I was unveiled. In 1925 the electrification of the village began. In 1932 there were 1035 people in Podlesí. In 1936 Josef Lukavský was honored with a memorial plaque. After the incorporation of Březové Hory, the town of Příbram ceded the settlement Drmlovo Pole to Podlesí in 1953. In 1957 the new iron bridge over the Litavka at the Pauknerův mlýn mill was completed. In 1960 a kindergarten opened. In 1965 Podlesí was awarded the title Vzorná obec ( model municipality ) of the Okres Příbram 1964. On January 1st, 1976 Orlov was incorporated again. At the beginning of 1980, Podlesí was incorporated into Příbram. In 1990 the citizens of Orlov and Podlesí decided on the separation of Příbram and the formation of their own municipality, whereby the referendum in Orlov voted to stay with Příbram. On November 24, 1990 Podlesí broke away from Příbram. Since 1995 the community has had a coat of arms and a banner.
