history

Archaeological finds prove a human presence in the municipality during the late Stone Age around 2000 BC. Chr., A permanent settlement could not be proven. Around 250 BC Celtic settlers on the Kocába began to soap for gold. Kniner gold mining began in the 11th century; the gold deposit extends from Čisovice via Zahořany, Rymaně, Pleš, Bratřínov , Malá Lečice, Velká Lečice, Knín, Sudovice, Kozí Hory, Libčice to Mokrsko. In the then still densely forested area, the first miners built their huts on the Kocába and on a raised place on the site of today's upper village.

The first written mention of the village took place in 1412. The gold mining probably went out during the Hussite Wars. The favorable location on the plateau was advantageous for Velká Lečice. Velká Lečice, together with Čím , Čelina and part of Bratřínov, formed an exclave of the Karlstejn burgrave between the possessions of the Dobříš ( Senešnice, Nová Ves, Hraštice ) and the Cistercian monastery of the King's Hall ( Malá Lečice, Krámy, Nové Dvory ). Remains of a pottery workshop from the first half of the 15th century as well as a 500-year-old well with oak rooms, which was uncovered during the construction of house no. 84, bear witness to the former importance of the village. According to tradition, there was a brewery on the square of house number 84, which was connected to the inn (number 60) by an underground passage.

In 1619 the Karlstejn burgrave was abolished and at the same time the crown jewels and the royal archives were brought to Prague. In 1625 the Karlstejn rule became the property of the Chamber of the Bohemian Queen. The castle and the Karlštejn estate were pledged to Jan Kavka Říčanský von Říčan in 1631. In 1639 the area was sacked by the troops of the Swedish Field Marshal Banér . The berní rula from 1653 lists 13 farms for Velká Lečice, and there were two mills. On June 13, 1659, a large fire destroyed eight houses. In addition to agriculture, the production of tanneries formed the livelihood of the residents of the village. In 1693 the royal chamber acquired the Karlstein castle and rule.

In 1846 the village of Groß-Letschitz / Welko-Lečice in the Berauner district consisted of 44 houses with 292 inhabitants. There was an inn in the village, and three mills on the Kotzaba. The parish was Alt-Knin ( Starý Knín ). Until the middle of the 19th century, the village remained subordinate to the kk Tafel rulership of Karlstein.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed velká lečice / wholesale Letschitz 1850 along with Malá Lečice a district of the municipality Lečice / Letschitz in the judicial district Dobříš. From 1868 the village belonged to the Příbram district . Since 1881 the municipality had the name Velké Lečice , from 1924 Velká Lečice is used as the official municipality name. The kocába was regulated in 1910 in Babí důl and Na Fusnice . In 1914 the six houses in Štěkanda were built. In 1918 Velká Lečice consisted of 72 houses with 337 inhabitants. There were two inns, two shops, a village pond and two community wells in the village, and there were also three mills on the cadastre. Malá Lečice broke up in 1920 and formed its own community. In the same year the Potok z Dvochců was regulated and the ford in the center of the village was abolished. Between Velká Lečice and Štěkanda, a cast iron bridge was built over the Kocába in 1925. The following year the village was electrified. In 1949 the community was assigned to the newly formed Okres Dobříš, since its abolition in 1960 it has belonged to the Okres Příbram . On January 1, 1980, Velká Lečice was incorporated into Nová Ves pod Pleší . Since July 1, 1990, Velká Lečice has formed its own municipality again. In 1999 the world championships in gold panning took place at the U Jezu square in the Kocába valley between Velká Lečice and Malá Lečice. The village consists of 97 houses in which 163 people live.
