history

Zbynice was first mentioned in a document in 1293 as the property of the brothers Hron and Dietmar von Zbynice, who were in the service of the Smil von Gratzen . The lords of Zbynice held the estate until the middle of the 15th century. Then it was acquired by the Vladiken von Kadov and connected to Holušice. The subsequent owners of the Holušice estate with Zbynice were the Schütz von Drahenitz ( Šic z Drahenic ). In 1547 Zbynice was attached to the Bukowan Manor . After that, the Zbenice Fortress, which had become meaningless, fell into disrepair and finally became extinct. In 1618 Johann Vlk von Kvítkov sold the estate to Wilhelm Schleglowsky von Schützendorf ( Vilém ze Šicendorfu ). He made Zbenice his seat and had a castle built on the castle stables . His widow Alena, born von Střítež , later married Heinrich von Bünau ( Jindřich z Bynu a Bynovští ). After that, the von Bünau family lived in the castle for almost a hundred years. The following owners were Přibik Bukowansky Pinta von Bukowan and after his death in 1752 Countess Čegka, who left Zbenice to her son Johann Count Čegka ( Jan Čejka z Olbramovic ). He sold the property in 1758 to the Benedictine abbey of St. Johann under the rock . After the abbey was abolished in the course of the Josephine reforms , the property fell to the royal chamber in 1785 , which sold the kk camera property to Franz Seraph Freiherr Schrenck von Notzing . In 1805, Karl Philipp zu Schwarzenberg bought the estate and added it to his Fideikommissherrschaft Worlik .

In 1837 the Allodialgut Zbenitz comprised a usable area of 1745 yoke 1482 square fathoms, of which 94 yoke 266 square fathoms belonged to the authorities. The estate included the villages of Zbenitz, Zlakowitz ( Zbenické Zlákovice ) and Kamena ( Kamenná ) as well as six houses from Groß-Kraschtitz , five houses from Žiwotice ( Životice ), two houses from Tiecharowitz and the single-tiered farm Dol ( Na Dole ). The village of Zbenitz / Zbenice or Zbinic consisted of 42 houses with 302 inhabitants, including six Israelite families . In the village there was a stately castle, a yard, a sheep farm, a brandy distillery, a potash boiler, an inn and a mill. The parish was Groß-Kraschtitz . Until the middle of the 19th century, the Zbenitz estate formed part of the Worlik Fideikommissherrschaft together with the allodial estates Zalužan, Zbenitz and Bukowan.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Zbenice / Zbenitz 1850 with the districts Kamenná, Myslovice, Těchařovice and Životice a municipality in the district administration Breznitz and the judicial district Mirowitz . From 1855 the municipality belonged to the Písek District . In 1932 there were 342 people living in Zbenice, including Kamenná. On May 13, 1944, British paratroopers under the command of Vladimír Hauptvogel landed as part of Operation Chalk near Zbenice. These were found by the Waffen SS after their landing and died in a shooting near Chraštičky. 1949 Zbenice was reclassified in the Okres Příbram. On January 1, 1953, the districts Těchařovice and Životice were umgemeindet to Vrančice and the district Kamenná to Bohostice . In the 1950s, the siding for the construction of the dam of the Orlík dam was built north of the village . In 1964 Zbenice was incorporated into Chraštice . Attractions

  • Zbenice Castle, the four-wing late Renaissance building with an inner courtyard, was built in 1626 for Wilhelm Schleglowsky von Schützendorf. There is a coat of arms of the builder above the entrance portal. The castle was owned by the Schwarzenberg family until 1948. After the expropriation it served various purposes and was finally transferred to the legal entity of the JZD Chraštice. The repairs, which were not carried out after the nationalization, led to the ruin of the castle. In 1982 the castle was also damaged by fire and then secured with an emergency roof. After the Velvet Revolution the castle stood empty and was left to its own devices. At the end of the 1990s, the restorer Jiří Češka, who had to vacate his workshop and shop in Zbraslav , bought the dilapidated castle. During the reconstruction work in 2009 in an accident in the excavation pit for the sewer connection, an unknown buried medieval stone arch bridge was discovered and uncovered, which was probably part of the old fortress. The owner of the castle had the damaged part of the castle bridge repaired. In October 2012, the double-arched bridge with dimensions of 10 × 3 meters was officially inaugurated. The restoration of the moat discovered in the process, which was probably filled in in 1626, is also planned. Jiří Češka's restoration workshop is located in the castle, and it is also used for cultural events. It is planned to set up a museum for restored antiques in the castle and a mini-brewery in the barn.
