Magasa municipality in the province of Brescia
Parishes and the year of change of province

Magasa is a northern Italian municipality with 110 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Brescia in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 40.5 kilometers northeast of Brescia on the Parco dell'Alto Garda Bresciano , belongs to the Comunità montana parco alto Garda bresciano and borders on Trentino .

history

Until after the First World War , Magasa belonged to Tyrol and later to Trentino , was merged with the neighboring municipality of Valvestino (then Turano ) in 1929 and, together with them, was separated from Trentino in 1934 and incorporated into the province of Brescia . After the Second World War, Magasa became an independent municipality again in 1947. Magasa is grappling with worrying demographic trends.

In a referendum in 2008, a majority declared that they wanted to return to the now autonomous province of Trento. In April 2015, the Lombard Regional Council approved the proposal submitted by Lega Nord to support the change of province.
