Esine is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 5216 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Brescia in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 43.5 kilometers north of Brescia in Val Camonica . Esine is between Oglio and Grigna .

history

Esine was first mentioned in a document at the end of the 10th century. The Beccagutti , Codaferri and Federici families ruled the community from 1287 until the late 14th century.

The Strada Statale 42 del Tonale e della Mendola leads through Esine from Treviglio towards Bolzano . A train station exists with the neighboring municipality of Cogno on the Brescia – Iseo – Edolo line for the section from Pisogne to Breno .
