Ospitaletto is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 14,947 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Brescia in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 10 kilometers west-northwest of Brescia and about 11 kilometers south-southeast of Lake Iseo .
history
While the remains of the wall indicate a building in Roman times, the first written mention of a hospitale S. Jacobi by the Brescia bishop Ramperto dates back to the year 843.
Sports
The football team Ospitalettos (Football Club Ospitaletto [2000]) was for a long time in the third division. The second Giro d'Italia (1910) stopped in Ospitaletto.
traffic
The A4 autostrada runs through the municipality from Turin to Trieste . There is also a junction here. The Strada Statale 11 Padana Superiore is expanded here as a bypass. There is a train station (Ospitaletto-Travagliato) on the Milan - Venice line in the section between Bergamo and Brescia.
