Pontoglio ( bridge over the Oglio ) is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 6947 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Brescia in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 29 kilometers west-northwest of Brescia and about 19.5 kilometers southeast of Bergamo am Oglio . Pontoglio borders directly on the province of Bergamo . The place is at the Parco dell'Oglio Nord in the Brescian lowlands.

history

In the 12th century the place became famous due to the battles of Palosco and Malamorte. In 1575 and 1576 the place almost perished in the plague.

Pontoglio is crossed by the former Strada Statale 469 Sebbina Occidentale ( coming from Lovere and leading to Urago d'Oglio ), which is now downgraded to the provincial road.
