Serle is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 3057 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in Val Sabbia in the province of Brescia in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 12 kilometers east-northeast of Brescia in the Sabbia Valley . Serle belongs to the Comunità Montana della Valle Sabbia .

history

The once Roman settlement became important in the 11th century with the establishment of the Abbey of St. Peter on Mount San Bartolomeo. The abbey was able to lead the area politically until 1446.
