Vobarno is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 8223 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in Val Sabbia in the province of Brescia in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 24 kilometers northwest of Brescia near Lake Garda (about 6 kilometers to the west bank) at the Parco dell'Alto Garda Bresciano . The municipality belongs to the Comunità Montana della Valle Sabbia . The Chiese flows here through the Val Sabbia.

history

In the Middle Ages Vobarno belonged as a fief to the Bishop of Brescia, who had to enforce his claims at least twice by force. From 1454 Vobarno became part of the Republic of Venice , only to come under Habsburg rule in 1797 after Napoleon's victory.

The Rezzato -Vobarno railway line built in 1897 (electrified: 1927) was decommissioned in the late 1960s.
