San Felice del Benaco is an Italian municipality with 3448 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It belongs to the province of Brescia in the Lombardy region . The neighboring communities are Garda ( VR ), Manerba del Garda , Puegnago sul Garda , Salò and Torri del Benaco (VR).

The sprawling municipality is located on the southwestern shore of Lake Garda in the charming hilly landscape of the Valtenesi, a terminal moraine landscape that is reminiscent of Tuscany with its vineyards, olive and cypress groves and the small villages on the hilltops. The nickname of the village is derived from the ancient name for Lake Garda, the lacus Benacus.

Parish Church of Santi Felice, Adauto e Flavia

The center is about two kilometers from the lake shore. The center is dominated by the parish church of Santi Felice, Adauto e Flavia from the middle of the 18th century. Inside there are paintings and frescoes, including in the apse Our Lady with San Felice and other saints. The tower of an old Scaliger fortress serves as a campanile .

Old town or center of San Felice del Benaco

The Santuario della Madonna del Carmine is located just outside the village to the south . The exterior unadorned former Carmelite Church from the 15th century is a popular pilgrimage destination and was built between 1452 and 1482. In the single-nave hall church with open roof you can find important frescoes from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries. The transition from late Gothic to Renaissance painting can be seen well in the figures, which reveal an individual life of their own.

Market day in San Felice is Wednesday. In the center of the village you will find the Trattoria El Patio and the Hotels San Filis in Via Marconi 5 and Villa Luisa Resort in Via Palazzo 1. Two kilometers away is the small port of Porto San Felice .
