Calvisano is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 8525 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Brescia in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 23.5 kilometers southeast of Brescia , a few kilometers west of the Chiese .

The village was developed as a fortress at an early stage; Walls and gates are still preserved today. The market has existed since 1427 and is traditionally still held.
