The Brescia – Iseo – Edolo railway is a standard-gauge railway in Italy operated by Ferrovie Nord Milano (FNM). It leads from Brescia to Iseo and along the east coast of Lake Iseo through the Valcamonica to Edolo at the foot of the Apricapass and Tonale Pass .

history

The construction of a railway line through the Valcamonica was licensed by the state to the province of Brescia in 1900 , which passed the concession on to the Società Italiana Ferrovie e Tramvie (SNFT) in 1904 .

The line was opened from 1907 to 1909 and operated by the SNFT. During this time, the Brescia - Iseo section of the ParmaBresciaIseo national railway line, which had existed since 1885, was sold to the SNFT, making a direct, continuous connection from Brescia to Valcamonica possible.

In 1987 the line was transferred to a consortium under the leadership of the Lombard railway company FNM, and in 1993 directly to FNM.

traffic

Regional traffic is operated on the Trenord route . With the timetable change on June 15, 2008, a cycle timetable was introduced, which for the first time provided for scheduled express trains to Edolo. The Regio trains stop at all intermediate stations, the RegioExpress trains run from Brescia via Iseo, Sulzano, Sale Marasino, Marone-Zone, Pisogne, Darfo-Corna, Boario Terme, Breno, Capo di Ponte, Cedegolo, Malonno to Edolo. Two RE train pairs also stop in Bornato-Calino, where there is a connection to the shuttle trains to Rovato. The Iseo-Bornato section is also used by individual trains that connect to Rovato.

FS ALn 668 railcars , some with sidecars, are used. In 2009, two three-part PESA Atribo multiple units were added. Since June 2011, six articulated railcars of the Stadler GTW type have also been in use. Until the beginning of 2010, locomotive hauled trains with diesel locomotives and two or three former SBB center entry cars also ran. At the end of 2015, the two PESA multiple units were scrapped due to repeated engine damage. Shortly thereafter, the fleet was supplemented with two four-part GTWs.

Freight traffic has not taken place since 2009. The last freight trains served a steel mill near Sellero.
