The karst spring Hofheim is a natural monument designated gypsum karst source in Hofheim in Unterfranken .
description
The karst spring is located north of the town of Hofheim in a small wood. It is a spring funnel that pours an average of 32 liters of water per second . The bluish shimmering spring water has a high calcium sulfate content, as it rises from the underlying gypsum keuper layers. After 1.6 km the flowing stream flows to the Aurach , a right tributary of the Nassach .
The source has been identified by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment as an important geotope (geotope number: 674Q002).
