Matteo Battocchi (born May 13, 1993 in Tione di Trento ) is an Italian alpine and grass skier . As a grass skier, he is a member of the squad of the Italian Winter Sports Association , took part in international competitions for the first time in 2011 and became vice junior world champion in slalom in 2012.

Career

Matteo Battocchi started in the grass ski in May 2011 for the first time in FIS races . On July 9 of the same year, he took part in a World Cup race for the first time . In this slalom in Rettenbach , however, he was eliminated in the first round. In the 2011 season , this was his only World Cup start. In August / September 2011 Battocchi took part in the World Championship and the Junior World Championship held at the same time in Goldingen . While an eleventh place in giant slalom was his only result in the juniors, he achieved sixth place in slalom and nineteenth place in super-G in the general class. Battocchi did not contest World Cup and FIS races in the 2012 season. However, he took part in the 2012 Junior World Championships in Burbach , where he won the silver medal in slalom and was fifth in giant slalom and super combined. In the Super-G, however, he was disqualified after a goal error.

Battocchi has also been taking part in alpine skiing competitions in winter since 2008, but with the exception of junior races has only rarely achieved a top position so far. In the FIS races , he was first among the top ten. Since the winter of 2011/2012 he has also started sporadically in the European Cup , but has so far remained far from the points.
