history
Archaeological finds prove a settlement during the Celtic times. According to the "Kronika česká" by Václav Hájek z Libočan , Stochov Castle is said to have been the seat of the legendary Přemyslid prince Neklan .
Stochov was first mentioned in a document in 1316. Until the 16th century both clerical and secular lords were owners of Stochov. In 1591 Jaroslav Borsita bought from Martinic Stochov, he added the place to the Smečno rule . There Stochov remained submissive until the abolition of patrimonial rule.
In 1848 Stochov became an independent municipality in the Slaný district. After the Second World War, the village came to Okres Nové Strašecí. To the west of the village, a mining settlement for the Tuchlovice coal mine was built in the 1950s. Since 1961 Stochov belongs to Okres Kladno , in the same year Honice was incorporated. Due to the mining industry, Stochov grew rapidly and was promoted to town in 1967. Stochov had a population of 6,500 around 1970. In 1986 Čelechovice was incorporated.
