Alberta Brianti (born April 5, 1980 in San Secondo Parmense , Emilia-Romagna ) is a former Italian tennis player .

Career

Brianti started playing tennis at the age of six. Your favorite surface is the hard court.

So far, she has won nine individual tournaments on the ITF Women's Circuit . She celebrated her greatest sporting success on the WTA Tour in 2011 when she won the title in Fès , Morocco , where she defeated Simona Halep 6: 4, 6: 3 in the final. In 2009 she reached the Guangzhou final , which she lost in straight sets to Shahar Peer . She celebrated her best result in a Grand Slam tournament in 2010 at the Australian Open , when she reached the third round with a victory over Sabine Lisicki, who was seeded in 21st place , in which she lost to Samantha Stosur in two sets .

She won her first WTA title in doubles in 2010 with her compatriot Sara Errani in Palermo . They defeated the pairing Jill Craybas / Julia Görges in the final 6: 4, 6: 1. Brianti secured her second WTA double title in 2011 at the side of Sorana Cîrstea in Dallas with a 7-5, 6-3 final win over Alizé Cornet and Pauline Parmentier . In 2011, at the mature tennis age of 31, she achieved new personal bests in the world rankings in both singles and doubles. Her best Grand Slam result in doubles was achieved in 2010 at the French Open , when she was defeated by Alexandra Dulgheru in the second round against world-class doubles Gisela Dulko / Flavia Pennetta in two close sets. She also won eleven ITF tournaments with changing partners.

In April 2011 she played her only game (singles) for the Italian Fed Cup team in Moscow when her team lost 5-0 to Russia .
