Ashley Harkleroad (born May 2, 1985 in Rossville , Georgia ) is a former American tennis player .

life and career

Harkleroad, who started playing tennis at the age of four and prefers to play on hard courts, became a professional player in June 2000.

She won her first ITF title on July 7, 2002, and seven more individual titles were added. She also won five tournaments in doubles competitions at the ITF Women's Circuit . She had her breakthrough in 2003 at the WTA tournament in Charleston , when she was able to beat three top 20 players there. In 2007 she played for the USA team at the Hopman Cup .

She achieved her best results in Grand Slam tournaments in 2003 at the French Open and in 2007 at the Australian Open when she reached the third round. She reached her highest individual ranking on June 9, 2003 with 39th place.

She played her only two Fed Cup games for the USA in 2008. In the game against Germany she defeated both Tatjana Malek and Sabine Lisicki .

On the occasion of the 2008 Olympic Games , she was photographed for the August issue of US Playboy . She was the second tennis player after Vanessa Menga (Brazil, February 2001) to undress for Playboy.

On March 25, 2009, Harkleroad was the mother of a boy, and in April 2011 she gave birth to a daughter. She was married to tennis player Alex Bogomolov junior between 2004 and 2006 . The father of her children is her current husband Chuck Adams , who was also a professional tennis player.

At the Indian Wells WTA tournament she made a comeback in 2010, but lost her first round match against Alicia Molik with 1: 6 and 1: 6. Her last professional match she played in August 2010 at the WTA tournament in Cincinnati , where she failed in the qualifying round.
