The 2011 Bank of the West Classic was a tennis tournament held in Stanford from July 23rd to 31st . It took place in parallel with the Washington, DC tournament.

Defending champion in singles was Wiktoryja Asaranka , in doubles it was Lindsay Davenport and Liezel Huber . Davenport did not appear again this year. Serena Williams won the individual competition 7: 5, 6: 1 against Marion Bartoli and thus celebrated her 38th WTA title. The doubles went with a clear 6: 1, 6: 3 over Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond to the pairing Wiktoryja Asaranka and Marija Kirilenko .

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the double competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players each received a bye into the second round.
