In the men's doubles were Byron Black and Jonathan Stark , in women's doubles Gigi Fernandez and Natasha Zvereva the defending champions. Kristie Boogert and Menno Oosting were the defending champions in mixed .

In the men's singles, Thomas Muster won his first and only Grand Slam title. In the women's singles, Steffi Graf prevailed against defending champion Sánchez Vicario in the final. In the men's doubles won Jacco Eltingh and Paul Haarhuis , in women's doubles defending Fernández and Swerawa her title. Larisa Neiland and Todd Woodbridge won the mixed title .

At this tournament, Mats Wilander and Karel Nováček tested positive for cocaine , after which they were later banned for three months.
