Thomas "Tommy" Ho (born June 17, 1973 in Winter Haven , Florida ) is a retired American tennis player .

Life

Ho entered the US Open in 1988 at the age of 15 , but was eliminated in the first round. Shortly afterwards he won his first match on the ATP World Tour in Rye Brook . In singles he was significantly less successful than in doubles; however, he achieved four individual titles on the ATP Challenger Tour between 1990 and 1995. He experienced the peak of his career in 1994 and 1995, beginning with the double title in Beijing at the side of Kent Kinnear . With multiple partners, he won 1995 Masters tournament of Indian Wells , the double title of Hong Kong and defended the title in Beijing. At the International Series Gold tournament in Memphis he was in the final, he also reached the semi-finals of the doubles competition at the French Open , where he lost in straight sets alongside Brett Steven against the later champions Jacco Eltingh and Paul Haarhuis . He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1995 with position 85 in singles and 1996 with position 13 in doubles.

A back injury forced Ho to retire from tennis.
