The 105th French Open took place from May 28th to June 11th, 2006 in Paris , France .

Defending champions in the singles were Rafael Nadal in the men and Justine Henin in the women. In the men's doubles Jonas Björkman and Max Mirny were the defending champions , in the women's doubles Virginia Ruano Pascual and Paola Suárez . Daniela Hantuchová and Fabrice Santoro were the defending champions in mixed .

For the first time in the history of the French Open, which has been held since 1891, the opening game took place on a Sunday .

Rafael Nadal won the men's singles and Justin Henin-Hardenne won the women's singles for the second time in a row. Jonas Björkman and Max Mirny also won the men's doubles for the second time in a row, and Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur in the ladies doubles . Katarina Srebotnik and Nenad Zimonjić won the mixed title .
