Shinobu Asagoe ( Japanese 浅 越 し の ぶ , Asagoe Shinobu ; born June 28, 1976 in Hirakata , Osaka Prefecture ) is a former Japanese tennis player .

Life

Born in Hirakata, Osaka Prefecture, but from Kamigōri in Hyōgo Prefecture , she attended the Sonoda Gakuen High School ( 園田 学園 高校 ) in Amagasaki - a girls ’s high school - and then the Sonoda Gakuen Women's University ( 園田 学園 女子 大学 ) which she broke off prematurely. She also has an older brother.

Career

Shinobu Asagoe became a professional tennis player in 1997. In 2000, she reached the top 100 in the world rankings for the first time with 72nd place . She achieved the best scores of her career in 2005 with 21st place in singles and in 2006 with 13th place in doubles. On the WTA Tour she won eight doubles, but not a single title.

In 2004 she was in the quarterfinals of the US Open , it was her best result in a Grand Slam tournament .

Asagoe played 27 games for the Japanese Fed Cup team between 1999 and 2006 and celebrated 17 wins. In 2006 she ended her professional career.
