Hirakata ( Japanese 枚 方 市 , -shi ) is a city in Osaka Prefecture on Honshū , the main island of Japan . The city is located on the Yodo River .

Nearby is the 300 meter high Kunimi-yama Mountain . Other attractions include several parks, Yamada Lake and Kudara-ji Temple, and Katano-jinja Shinto Shrine .

economy

The metal industry, mechanical engineering and textile manufacturing are economically significant. In earlier times the city was also an important inland port, but it lost its importance with the expansion of the rail network.
