Li Ting ( Chinese 李婷 , Pinyin Lǐ Tíng ; born January 5, 1980 in Wuhan , Hubei ) is a former Chinese tennis player .
Career
Li started playing tennis at the age of seven. From 2000 to 2007 she competed on the WTA Tour , on which she won a total of nine double titles, eight of them alongside Sun Tiantian .
However, she celebrated the greatest triumph of her career by winning the gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. With doubles partner Sun Tiantian, she defeated the Spanish pairing Conchita Martínez / Virginia Ruano Pascual 6: 3 and 6: 3 in the final .
