Patty Fendick (born March 31, 1965 in Sacramento , California ) is a former American tennis player .

Career

The greatest success of her career she achieved in 1991 with her compatriot Mary Joe Fernández at the Australian Open . They defeated Gigi Fernández and Jana Novotná in the double final of the Grand Slam tournament 7: 6 (7: 4) and 6: 1. Fendick was also in the final of the US Open in 1988 , but had to admit defeat with her doubles partner Jill Hetherington Gigi Fernandez and Robin White 4: 6, 1: 6. In 1989 she also lost the final of the Australian Open against Martina Navrátilová and Pam Shriver 6: 3, 3: 6, 2: 6.

Fendick won a total of three singles and 25 doubles titles on the WTA Tour . In March 1989 she achieved her highest position in the world rankings with rank 19 . On July 3 of the same year she was number four in the double world rankings. She also played three times for the American Fed Cup team (two wins, one loss).

Fendick ended the professional career she started in 1987 in 1995. After her retirement, she married Scott McCain, with whom she has two daughters and a son. Between 1997 and 2005 she coached the tennis team at the University of Washington and was then head coach of the Texas team.
